The hong kong wetland park is a world-class ecotourism facility aimed at promoting green tourism, education on environmental protection and wetland conservation.Hong Kong Wetland Park is a conservation, education and tourism facility, located at the northern part of Tin Shui Wai, in Yuen Long. It was to be an ecological mitigation area (EMA) for the wetlandslost due to Tin Shui Wai New town development.
Hong kong wetland park is surely not the most impressive place in terms of "being close to nature" (Mai Po Nature Reserve is far more "natural"...), but it has all that is needed to discover the wetlands in a comfortable and enjoyable way that appeals to almost everybody, and it has one of the best (and largest) Wetlands-themed visitor centres on earth, with plenty of beautifully exhibited stuff.
Hong kong wetland park includes a 10,000m2 Visitor's Centre, a Wetland Interactive World and a 60-hectare Wetland Reserve.
Inside the Wetland Interactive World visitors will find themed exhibition galleries, a theatre, a souvenir shop, an indoor play area (swamp adventure) and a resource centre.
In my hong kong tourist guide Outside, at the actual reserve, you get the chance to walk across different wetland environments, including a mangroves swamp, and to see all kinds of unique fauna and flora (including a large number of migratory birds, in season). There are built hideaways from which you can watch the birds unnoticed, there are fixed binoculars and telescopes that you can use... and what not...

Hong Kong looks great.
Its nice to know that aside from the big busy city, Hong Kong also offers nature. And what a unique environment on top of that. Up until now I didnt even know there were wetlands! Things like that make a visit to Hong Kong even more appealing.

This is an excellent article...I was planning to hike out there (by train) but as I scoured the web for HK Wetland spark and repeatedly came up with scanty wetlands photos more PR, touristy bad architecture...I got suspicious...As usual HK prefers style over sensibility...sensibility can be very stylish but...anyway, thanks for your honest enlightening review. I better race off to Mai Po before that disappears too!
